May 31, 2010 -
Friday May 14 was my last day at R.W. Smith & Co., and I am very excited to officially announce that I will be pursuing my MBA at Texas A&M starting this summer.
I have been fortunate at RW Smith to work alongside a very talented group of people with decades of experience in the construction industry, and have learned a great deal that I will carry with me throughout my career.
I am now focusing on what lies ahead. The MBA program at A&M is a full-time two year program condensed into 18 months. To say I will be busy is an understatement; nonetheless I have had the opportunity in recent months to meet incoming classmates and am very excited to get started.
I will sadly also be leaving my Special Olympics team, the Orange County Tigers, with whom I have grown very close over the past three years. My final tournament with the team will be at the Southern California Chapter games in Long Beach, California. This will be my first time attending such a large tournament, and I am very proud of all the hard work my team has put in this season.
I am also back to training long-distance in preparation for my first New York City Marathon. If all goes as I hope, November 7, 2010 will see me crossing the finish line in NYC. Getting back into long runs has been a challenge and I welcome any words of encouragement as I continue my training program.
I will keep you all posted on my progress at A&M.
