Zapier
Automation gateway drug. Great integrations. Replaced by self-hosted n8n.
What I use it for
Pricing
Free tier; paid plans from $19.99/mo. Previously subscribed.
Where it shines
- Integration library is massive. Connecting almost anything to anything is easy.
Where it struggles
- Per-zap pricing scales badly. The more you automate, the more you pay.
- Self-hosted n8n does the same work. More setup. Much more scalable.
Notes
Nice integrations library. But self-hosting n8n gives more control and better scalability. The tradeoff is setup and maintenance. Worth it. Dropped Zapier once n8n handled the workload.
How to try it
Sign up and connect two tools you use daily. See how fast it builds the automation. Then look at the pricing for what you'd actually need.

Make
Well-executed automation platform with strong security focus. Never went deep — n8n and Zapier got my attention first.
n8n
Open-source workflow automation I self-host on Docker — still useful, but increasingly replaced by native tool capabilities.
MCP.so
MCP server directory. Briefly explored it but found Smithery more effective. Native integrations are making both less necessary.
